Unhappy 2000 xpy trans problem

I have a 2000 xpy that is not shifting into 3rd gear. The OD light flashes on and off and will not go off when I push it. I've had it in a transmission shop. They hooked it up to a computer and it reads that it shifts all they way into overdrive when it never shifts out of 2nd gear. They are at a loss and said that they only way to tell would be to tear down the transmission and look. They do not guarantee anything and it will be quite expensive just to look. Does anyone have any ideas or have had this problem? I have changed the fluid and added Trans X. The pan and selinoids look good. I would appreciate any input. Thanks

IF the solenoids check out to be good, then it could be a bad sensor. Test or replace it. It's cheap compared to tranny breakdown.

Don't put any kind of product in your tranny except the recommended tranny fluid. Period.

Kristen,

Cannot engage 3rd either. Need a quick resolution before I buy a new tranny. Can you please tell me how this was successfully resolved.

Thanks!
Mike
