How are the factory remote-starts for the 6.0 PSD? Do they take into account the glo-plug delay, and how? Tried to search this topic but it was too busy and I am not a FTE member (only a Senior user).
im not sure if this helps or if it is what ur looking for but i have a clifford remote start on my 2003 6.0L and i love it. The installer had to order a special part to make it work but it does use the wait to start feature and works well.
Also got the Ford Gold on our 03 6.0L. Costs is a bit high for me, but the wife insisted. She loves it.
She uses it mostly on cold mornings - from inside the house through the front window. The 30 second wait doesn't bother her. It takes her about 5 minutes to get ready to go out, and by then the heater has had time to warm the interior up a bit.

Ford Gold How much did it cost?
Does that have the 3 hour restart on it?
Added as part of the purchase but they put it on about a week after I got it...
IIRC about $475 installed...
No ---
But it has MORE features than I need and more than I thought...
WELL WORTH IT..
And since it was put on as part of the deal, it is included in the 100k warranty (or so I was told !)
No matter, I just wanted it done there so there would be no finger pointing if there was an "ssue"...
They can be wired two ways. Some put in a timer delay. The best way is to wire it to the wait to start light. When the light goes out the start occures.
Originally posted by Tim Houston The Ford remote start has a 30 second delay on 04's. To long! I should have went with the Clifford.
Not sure about your's but mine has NEVER taken 30 secs to start...
I just tested and timed it - 10 secs max...
And to me, it really doesn't matter if it takes 10 secs or 60 secs to start...
it's a remote start - I'm usually not waiting on it...
just so long as it starts (which it always does) is fine with me...
the other morning it was about 25 here in DFW and I hit it to crank and recall that it really didn't want to "wake up"...
the cold just made the starter work hard to turn over the engine - but started fine....
I had the Gold start installed before I took delivery and love it. Mine has the 30 sec delay, even if the truck is warm, but I feel it starts better in the cold with the remote then me with the key. I have tried it several ways and found that my truck starts easier if I wait another 10-15 seconds after the "wait to start light" goes out. I found this out after I noticed when remote starting it cold it seemed to crank less and smoke less.
My dealer hosed me on the install- 625.00 but I decided to do it factory because I was one of the earliest 6.0 shipped. It is covered under Ford Warrenty.

That's most likely because you have an 03'? The 04's has a 30 second delay period. And I use remote start as I'm walking up to the truck so most of the time it gets canceled out as I am in the truck before the truck starts.
Another item that sucks about the ford remote start is that you have to lock the truck then press the start key for the remote start to work. Ford's 04 alarms are Audiovox branded.
I think I can start mine with the doors open, but the hood has to be locked !
so I certainly don't have to lock the doors b4 I hit the start....
Mine automatically locks WHEN I press the start key...
Sounds like yours was setup differently than mine....
And I know they can be re coded because I brought mine back and said I didn't like the way a few things were set up and they changed it for me...
I guess it a lot like the dealers - some do things right and others don't !
