Excursion 7.3L Diesel Acceleration?

Do the Excursion with the 7.3L Diesel engine have good acceleration from a stand stop? and what about their passing power? Do you have to hope and pray that you'll get around the car in front of you or does the Diesel have no problem shooting past the slower drivers? Also, do you prefer the 6.0L v10 or the 7.3L Diesel Power Stroke V8?

the frst second or 2 are not all that but the the turbocharger kicks in and its a whole new ball game (for the size of this truck)
Passing power is good. i love my X, look at my gallery.

I had a 7.3 L in an 02 X....
did the zoodad mod which 'seemed' to help with the passing performance... got a superchips microtuner and that REALLY helped... and a rear Hellwig sway bar was still the best mod I did to the 02
I never had any issues passing anyone at any time....

now have a 6.0L in an 03 x and have to say even stock it is quicker than my 7.3L and the 5 speed tranny is light years ahead of the 4 speed...

IMHO

Hi, I have an 01 with the 7.3L and the two program superchips microtuner. I'm averaging 8.5 - 9.5 sec. 0-60 empty. I have a 6300lb 28foot travel trailer and I don't have any problem passing anyone I want. The microtuner removes and speed limiter and I have safely GPS verified my truck at 110mph.

Even stock the 7.3 propells the X pretty well I must say. Just think of the weight that the engine is moving 9300 lbs of steel.

Any way, stock is good mods are better.

from a standstill my 01 ex was a lead sled...like starting in 2nd gear....at 50mph+ hauls ***....at 65000 miles the acceleration picked up considerably....
