ford made three types of broncos
1st gen '66-'77 small and scout like ( AKA early bronco or classic bronco)
2nd-4th gen '78-'79, 80-96, based on the F150 (aka fullsize or bigbronco)
bronco II, ranger pickup based (AKA babybronco or little bronco)
that concept is the 1st gen bronco.
this is a big bronco.
Now thats what I would like to have seen the bronco turn into. A 2 door excursion. I did here some stuff about the explorer sport becoming the next bronco but now that vehicle is gone. Thats too bad because thats the only explorer I liked besides the 91-94's. If I could have gotten the FX4 level II package on it like the ranger I would have traded the old bronco II in for one. The new concept photos almost remind me of a late 80's Isuzu trooper. Looks just like and ice box. Does anyone know if its supposed to have solid axles. Didn't see anything in the article. I also don't like the idea of full time 4WD.
Not sure if I like it or not. I've been the owner of two early Broncos, which I loved..cept for the lousy heaters. It does remind one of a Scouts shape and the ground clearance appears to be lacking. Also...an automatic tranny with no apparent manual options. Oh well, it's OK, but a 2.0 liter diesel engine sucks too. Even with the nitrous. That's a small engine. Now, put a 4.6 or a 5.4 and a manual tranny in it, stand it a bit taller and it might be a keeper.
f150daniel has the keeper...thast a badass bronco, i know thered be a huge market out there for them..i know id be one to line up to get one, who wouldnt want a badass new bronco? esp if they kept the styling of the concept, and kept true to real power in the bronco..no v6s or anything
The picture posted by F150daniel is a photoshop job. I was watching a thread on offroad.com message board when they were talking about wanting Ford to bring back the Bronco. The guy that did that picture posted a couple differant ones as he tried to 'perfect' it. He did a great job to. I'd like to see Ford build that someday, with a Powerstroke and a 5 speed, and a lever shifted t-case (none of that push button junk).
