Driver door configuration - nitpick

This is something that bothers me about my Ranger ('00 extended cab) and I totally agree its a nitpick, but I wanted to know if anyone else shares my irritation.

Does anyone else feel that the window ledge is too high from the driver seat? I have problems on long trips where I can't put my elbow on the window ledge because its too high and puts my arm at an uncomfortable angle. Normally its only when the window is up, as I can hang my arm out when its warm enough outside no problem. If I drop my elbow down to the door handle rest/whatever that thing is called my hands sit too low on the steering wheel and make it difficult to drive in a straight line 'cause my hands grip the wheel near the bottom.

Normally I drive with my left hand in the 9 o'clock position and my right hand in the 4 o'clock position - left elbow on the window ledge, right elbow on the center console. But that darn window ledge is too tall and it digs into my elbow over time. I'm 6'2" 250 lbs muscular guy and I need all the room I can get in there - either the seat needs to be raised up or the windows made larger. My '83 Ranger was absolutely perfect fit for me, so how do the newer trucks fare?

Yeah I know its a nit, I'll shut up now.

From a totally different angle; resting your elbows in the same places will just wear that spot out. Same thing for the steering wheel.
I too have my habitual places, but I'm working on changing locations. There's a wear spot at 11 o'clock on the steering wheel that stands out.

Hmm, I'm 6'0 and it seems just fine to me. The thought of worn out spots on the steering wheel makes me laugh though.

I had a car where the door lock peg was right underneath your elbow when you rested it there. That was a pain.

I'm with brianjwilson, the ledge seems to work for me.

Actually, that's one thing I like about the Ranger....is that you CAN rest your arm there. I guess everybody has their own opinion.

If the window is up, I'm having a tough time figuring out where you would put your elbow. About the only place would be the armrest. You can do what I do and always have your window down. Works every time!
