Perhaps the most famous Bronco of all time is Big Oly. It was built by Bill Stroppe when Parnelli Jones outdrove the capabilities of Stroppe’s previous Broncos. Tricked and tube-framed, it won the Baja 1000 overall in 1971 and 1972 and captured the attention of the media and enthusiasts alike.
The Pony Express
Jim Duff was one of the early pioneers in the Early Bronco aftermarket business. It all started off at a Los Angeles Ford dealer where Jim would add fender flares to Broncos in his spare time. One of his early projects was the Pony Express, which had its body lowered by two inches so Jim could haul butt in the sand. Not just limited to speed in the sand, Jim and the Pony Express once received a ticket for being airborne in an intersection.
James Garner Racing Another man that was helpful in establishing the popularity of the early Bronco was actor James Garner. In the early days of the Bronco and desert racing he teamed up with Bill Stroppe and Parnelli Jones. With a world-famous Indy car driver and a big-shot Hollywood actor behind the wheel, it was hard not to attract attention and the Bronco quickly became popular.
It is amazing to me how important the Bronco has been to automotive history. It always has been and always will be a great truck. -fg
You guys are forgetting perhaps the easiest 2 in TV. Jesse James built a 66-77 into a badass rockcrawler on Monster garage. There was also a 78 that some guys stripped down, put on a kit car body, and made into a rockcrawler on a backyard monster garage. Anyway, just had to throw in my $.02
I dont think anyone mentioned the Bronco Cop car that was sitting outside Neverland the day they brought in Michael Jackson. It was pretty stellar! Almost every station kept airing the same video footage of that day and everytime that bronco was sittin right in front of the gate pretty much.
Anyone know the laws pertaining to painting a vehicle to look like a cop car? I want my bronco painted like a police Bronc.
You can make your car or truck look just like a cop car or truck in every way, as long as you don't impersinate an officer.
Hence pulling people over. Just beware, A cop may give you a hard time just driving driving down the road. So maybe, paint the truck, install the light bars, ect, ect.. Just don't put any police stickers on it.

That would be cool to do that and get the wig-wag strobe head lights with some red and blue flashinglights, would be fun to play some games with my friends!!!
I once saw this old 50's plymouth or something painted up with a Mayberry Police emblem on the side. It was so cool. Would putting a fake one on be too risky?
I have just always wanted to have one like that. I dont know if it will ever happen... but i would like to know all the legal ramifications. Better safe than sorry.
Hey guys, trust me I have friends who are cops,my brother in law ans my father in law are cops,it may be legal but you are asking for trouble, there is a million different ways to make your bronco look cool besides painting up like a fuzz mobile.
i cant really remember for sure but in that car chase movie when the guy takes the rich fathers daughter hostage with a butter finger and trys to go to mexico and in one part of that movie the guys from red hot chili peppers try to stop them in their lifted bronco, they start a huge problem for the cops

Now that I think about it there probly is some law against putting red and blue lights and police decals on your truck, But anything else goes.
