Is there any replacement in the near future for the 7.3 PSD? I am going to the dealer sometime this week to order a 2003, I didn't want to jump the gun if something was coming out.
One more question: Why can't I get a 4:10 with an automatic in the F250 or F350, all they offer is the 3:73? If I go to manual or move down to the 5.4 I can get the 4:10...I don't understand.
For your 1st question, it might be answered quicker in the diesel forum
yes the 6.0 l diesel is being released ,I would stay away from it right away to let them get any bugs out it.

second question
depending on where you live, certain gear ratios and engine combinations
are not alowed (calif.has strange rules do to enviromental issues)
I agree. I wouldn't buy any new engine the first year it was out. The 6.0 PSD coming out is supposed to be very impressive, so either wait a year or two or hurry up and buy one of the last 7.3's.
I saw a "demo" model of the new PowerStroke last Friday at Mike Naughton Ford in Denver and was impressed. Oil changes will be easier, the filter a a catridge type and sits on top of the motor. The injectors are slightly different. The one thing that kind of worried me is the "variable vane turbo", I'm not sure I liked the design. It is supposed to augment boost at low RPM. The guy I spoke with said there are already 10,000 of these motors on the road and they haven't had any trouble, but that's a Ford rep talking.
Personally, I'm gonna wait a model year or two before and let FOrd work the bugs out before I buy one. First model year vehicles ALWAYS have some quirks......
