Well, I've got the Mustang to a little body straightening and painting so, I'm going to start spending more time on the truck again. I figured that this was a better place to post this since you guys are so knowledgable about the older ones. ( instead of in the towing forum)

1) Where can I find more info on the paint codes? I saw another thread with a link for data plates but it didn't help ( nice site though). My code is SS, which I guess is "special". Will I have to do a title search?

2) Could this truck have origonally been a "wrecker"? When I bought it, it was painted an old faded yellow and has a PTO with a shaft going to the back of the cab where an origonal looking winch was mounted. Everything is there, yet it seemed to be "home-made". ( the boom, the "torch-cut" lever and slot in the floor anyways)

3) I also have a Holmes 330 wrecker unit that I would like to mount on the back instead of what was there. The only thing I know about it is that it was built in 53 so I thought it would go good on there. Problem is that it is about 6" longer than my frame. Is this a real problem? Can the frame be extended for it? Where can I find info on this thing?
