I'm all for recycling.as populations increace we need more and more raw materials.i fear we are useing it faster than it regenerates.these landfills are not only a danger to the enviroment, they are a eyesore.these landfills are a short term solution to a long term problem.i'm sure you have seen some big landfills.what do we do when they contaminate our groundwater.i think these landfills are a timebomb.what do we do 50-100yrs down the road then find out we didn't construct these landfills right or there was a flaw in the technology.the problem lies in cost effectiveness.but you have heard the expression you can pay me now or you can pay me later.i think that applys to recycling as well
There is doom and gloom no matter what you do. I think that Mother Nature will determine our fate, no matter what steps we take. When the Earth is tired of mankind (and womenkind-just to be pc), the Earth will "shuck us off" like a parasite, and start over.
Recycling is important for two reasons. First, if you eliminate glass, tin, aluminum, paper, and plastic from your trash, you have very little left that has to go to the landfill. It's important to make the landfills last as long as possible because no one wants to build a new one near them. Second, it conserves our natural resources.
Our community provides recycling as part of our weekly trash pick up and we have used it for years. We set our two tubs of items each week. Newspapers, cans, plastics etc. it helps and saves on many environmental issues. Who knows that pop can you recylce today may become your neighbors new Hyundai next month
