I am wanting to improve the handling of my Bronco...
I don't offroad it, so "flex" is not an issue.
In addition, I want to lift the sagging front end to get rid of the "raked" look.
I have a 91 Silver Ann'y with the standard suspension.
It has only 57k miles and all bushings, etc. are in good shape.
I've got single shocks in front, and no swaybar on the rear.
I have a rear swaybar from an 88 that I am going to install.
I have new Midas Heavy-Duty shocks all around, but they didn't seem to fix the floaty front end.
I'd like to put duel shocks on the front. Is it easier to go aftermarket tubular mounts, or find some stock duel mounts in the junkyard. I think you'd have to torch them out and weld them in right?
I also have a few questions on parts interchangeability.
Are all 80-96 Bronco swaybars the same size?
Are there any trucks (F-250. etc) that have bigger swaybars than the Broncos?
I'm also thinking of going to bigger wheels and lower profile tires. I do NOT want the "bling bling"" look, just maybe some 17 or 18" rims and better street tires.
Are there any factory take-offs I should look for?
What shocks are best for around town and highway driving?
I also have 31" BFG A/T's on it... They were great on my 88 Bronco that I offroaded, but seem mushy on this one. (It probably isn't the tires.
Are there any tires with stiffer sidewalls in this size?
I think that covers it. I'm not looking for a corner carver here (have the mustang for that), I just want it to handle exit ramps and the curvy southern indiana roads a little more like a passenger car.
Thanks a lot.

Their ain't no curvy roads in Indy. I would look at your steering arms and napa has new front springs they probally have a 1.5 inch spacer to level it out also if not ebay does. There are a couple of junk yards that have some good bronco parts in Indy ask Snowfighter in the indiana forum where they are. There is also a real good one in gnawbones that has just about everything. Hope this helps
there are some options,
-polyurethane bushings
-cut some coils and use spacers to make up the difference
-16's wouldn't be too bad if you can locate some 16" 5 lug rims($$$)
-as for duel shock it will take custom add-on mounts, some factory towers, or go out and find some huge shocks
-as for the sway bars, i would say go to your favorite junk yard with your favoritemeasuring stick and see if you can find any difference.
I didn't come here for sarcasm.
I said I didn't need corner carving handling.
I just want to be able to keep it between the lines on some of the narrow curvy country roads...
If you have nothing helpfull to say, please don't say anything at all.
Wow..well I guess I'll just go to my corner and sniffle.
Didnt mean to ruffle your feathers
...you want handling? The go polyurethane for you bushings. Depending on what you replace, and the grade of the poly, you can stiffen your ride up. If you get adjustable gas shocks, that will help ALOT as well.
As for the sway bars, try to find about the same year F250 or F350. I believe the 2wd versions had nice thick sway bars.
It might be the way it's sitting... It definately has not been lifted. I think the front springs are sagging. It has only about an inch of up travel before it hits the bumpstops. It bottoms out often on big potholes or bumps.
That was just a quick picture I took of it parked in front of my house. It was dirty, and it was raining.
I'll get a better one of it all cleaned up.
Your Bronco does look like it sags in the front a bit.
I'd probably look at getting 16" rims. The tire options are much greater as far as load rating goes. The more ply's in the tire, the more you feel the road and it's hard to get more than 6 ply with 15". (16" is standard truck wheel.)
i think that they most had a rake cause the springs were from the truck bin (i think that ford made it that was so it was level when slightly loaded) you can get the spring spacers or some leveling coils (the higher rate might improve handling too) or you can have the rear springs de-arched an inch or so.
looks like two broncos ready too race! Oh yea, my neighbor liked mine so much, he had to buy one too. Mine's much nicer though... ;-)
I do not want to lower the back... I'd rather raise the front a little.
Seems like my 88 sat higher than this one. It also rode and handled nicer.
