I have a 04' fx4 screw and want to raise the front(Daystar 2.5" kit), but am concerned about the cv joints and boots wearing out quicker. Also will the front end need an alignment with this kit?
I heard from some suppliers at the SEMA aftermarket show this fall that the boots will wear out faster. they of course were talking about the other guys product, but they all had the same lift.
no one mentioned cv joint problems though, althoug a leaky boot will ruin a cv joint after the first mud puddle.
front end alighment will be needed to adjust (minimal) the camber for proper long term tire wear.
i am considering cutting down a lift for say..... 1.5 to 2 inches just to minimize the problem and then not making the truck sit level because i don't want it to squat like a super duty anytime I haul my boat (6,000 lbs)
all hearsay though. I would like to see durabilty mileage testing results myself.
