I'm starting to look for parts for my '75 F-150 and have a question regarding parts compatibilty with other year trucks... was wondering if most parts from trucks up to'79 would fit my rig... especially body... bed... engine compartment...
i think wasnt it 77 they changed body styles or 78 not quite sure, some parts would still work just depends what you need, i tihnk about 72 to 77 most parts would fit.
just wanted to make sure that once I start looking around and buying stuff that it will all work.
For starters I'm gonna need a rear gate... mine is just rusted out at the hinges and keeps popping out every time I open it... it's kind of a hassle putting it back together... unless I get rid of it once and for all... although I don't really like the idea.
Usually body panels are good from 73-79 (including tailgate) The thing to keep in mind...some say FORD in big letters across the back...while others do not.
Front grill shell 73-79
Grill inserts 73-75, 76-77, and 78-79 (could have round or square headlights)
Rear tail lights 73-79
Side marker lights 73-79
"Body style" was the same from 73-79.
My advise (if possible) remove the part or parts from your truck and take them shopping with you for comparison. I've gone to several salvage yards where they improperly 'year' label the part.
