Has rough idle and seems to miss throughout the range. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, EGR , all ok. Noted ticking noise off idle. Noise coming from front solenoid mounted on valve cover. It connects to EGR and VOTM. It's as if the solenoid is cycling very fast and continously when not idling. Sounds like a lifter tapping but definitely is the solenoid. Don't know if solenoid is bad or whatever sends the signal to it is bad. Anyone run into this problem?
No. But I've been wondering what the anacronym VOTM stands for. And what it exactly does in the scheme of messing up what would otherwise be a nice motor.
votm i herd it was called the idle motor i have to keep the trottel going when i stop or the truck will die the dealer told me it needs to be replaced for addial 60 when i carb replaced
