Greystreak...this, I am sure, should go into your FAQ list. Anyways, I have a 90 w/ a 302, it is going fast and dont have the means for a crate motor at this time, so I am looking at pulling one from the salvage yard. What different years of 302s can I use. And also, can I put in a 351 without any mods? Thanks
I have a 96 and I am thinking about swapping the 302 for a 351. You said that all you needed to get is the efi gear. I was wondering if you could explain what that is. Don't know too much about bronco's yet. But trying to learn. Also, I am pretty sure my bronco is a 5.0 but how can you tell if it is a 5.0 or a 5.8? Thx again.
The main componet for the engine swap with fuel injection is the EEC-IV. (computer). The only other real problem's you might have is the fuel rail on your 302 E.F.I. is shorter in width, remember the intake on a 302 is 9" wide and 11" wide on a 351. You can either buy an after market fuel rail or get a stock one for a 351 or simply and cheaply extend the hose's between the rails of your existing rails. You also might have to move up to 35lbs injectors, if you don't have them, or even higher if you do a build-up. Your stock exhaust system won't work due to the fact that a 351 is wider than a 302 and your "Y" pipe won't fit. Exhaust manifolds are the same. Back to the fuel system, your intake won't fit due to the wider 351, but if you find a 351 in a junk yard with everything intact your good to go!! Oh yeah, if you use all the accesories brackets from the 302, you might have to find a longer belt, but that is the easy part!
