I think that MaxLife is intended to swell gaskets on leaky older vehicles. I doubt that it will be anything for a rear main seal.

Have same problem with rear main seal on my '94 Bronco. Started using Valvoline MaxLife about a year ago. Still have the leak, has not worsened, but find the oil stays cleaner for a longer period of time. I feel that it is a good oil and although it won't stop all the leaks, perhaps it is preventing others.

FWIW, Maxlife made my oil pan gasket and remote filter assembly quit leaking. Now my engine is leak free (80,000 miles) and only burns 1/2 qt in 5,000 miles (as opposed to 1 quart every 2,000 or so previously)

Valvoline is a good oil so there's little risk involved. Try running it for two oil changes or so and see what happens.
