For the life of me i cannot understand why ford would put a limitor on my truck??....if you buy a v10 sometimes i think it is normal to get the urge to play!!......around 95 mph it kicks down......can the dealer flash the computer to overide this?......just curious what do you think top end on a 4x2 v10 auto 3:73 would be? not that i would try it all i know is this truck has 3500 miles on it .....mpg are on the rise.....so is the accell's .......my way of thinking is to drop a vi0 in a 1966-68 ford falcon.......could be fun

Dealer shouldn't be able to override it but who knows?

To lose the top speed limiter you'll have to give Ken a call and "chip it"!

There was another heated discussion on this topic a while back. The top speed is limited on your truck because of several factors, mainly the tires. I'm guessing that you have an R rating on your tires which means they are rated up to 99 MPH. If you exceed 99, you need to have better tires than stock or you risk blowing a tire. I have also heard of driveshafts warping from exceeding the governed speed. Imagine how many revolutions your driveshaft is turning at even 99 MPH. Just something to think about.
