The Rancho EB 3" springs would have been 18.5" when new which is half inch shorter than SkyJacker 6" coils. With used springs, I don't know if this info will help you or not.
My used springs are 15.5" now. The new Rancho 4" is 19.5".
rlh says the 3" Rancho's should be 18.5" when new. If mine are 3" Rancho springs does 3" of lost height sound reasonable to you guys? I know the springs have been on there for at least 4 years.
Here is a pic of the pitman arm, I'm guessing it's stock.
Thats a stock arm which indicates that the lift is definately less than 4" since anything 4 and over should have a drop pitman arm. The Rancho 3" spring I had the measurement from was an EB spring and I don't no for sure what that means (extended bucket?) but it had never been used. Rancho has a different spring rate than SkyJacker. Did you get your springs via mail or a local shop? If its local and they have a selection of Rancho springs or Jacker maybe you can try matching it up.
I had them mailed, there isn't a local shop here that has any aftermarket suspension stuff.
I was hoping MustangGT221 would be able to tell what I have, he seemed confident he would know by looking at pics. Can you tell by the pics I posted MustangGT221?
Or maybe somebody knows how much height these springs typically lose. Will I be ok just slapping a pair of 3" Rancho springs in there? Will I need anything else besides an alignment job?
I think the 4" Rancho will work, but you may have to get a drop Pitman arm $48 to $65. The 3" will work. Try email to Justin (Mustang the Moderator) under is post and have him to take a look. I think I've contributed all I can at this point unless you have a specific question. Good luck and let us know how this goes.
What will happen without the drop pitman arm if I put the 4" in there? What about all the drop down brackets, do they drop enough for the 4" springs? I would probably need new shocks too.
I'll definately update this when I get it all figured out. Thanks for all the input, I really appreciate it.
With the 4" the shocks would need to be replaced. Without a drop pitman arm, the stock arm could bind, or cause other problems with your steering because of the bad angle. I thought your shocks were broken and need replaced for some reason. I believe the 4 will work with your brackets but after you by shocks and a Pitman arm you've spent enough that Cepek package that has springs, brkts, & shocks amd have them to rush it.
The cheapest option will be the 3" springs unless you are replacing 2 or more components. You could sell your used brackets.
I got the 3" Rancho springs installed. But it looks to me like they are too tall. The camber is way off, and it looks like I'll need a drop pitman arm.
Can anyone tell me if the blocks under the spring in this pic are stock? I'm wondering if my spring was stock with a block added underneath it.
Scott, Something doesn't seem right with the spring seat. I'm not that familiar with the 95s so maybe its normal. It seems like the spring seat is upside down. There should be an insulator or rubber washer on top of that and maybe a retainer on top of that. Maybe a part too many.
There is a thin plastic ring between the spring seat and the spring. You can just barely see it in the pic, I'm not sure what purpose it serves, but it's there. And there is a retainer and nut to hold the spring to the spring seat. I believe the spring seat is not on there upside down. Still wondering if it's stock or not though.
Well judging by those pics it looks like mine does indeed have blocks under the stock spring seat. I think it's safe to assume that setup didn't change between 1990 and 1995 because everything else looks identical.
Looks like I have a project for this weekend, and those 3" springs might work afterall.
hey Skottt, I used to be in the exact same position. I had no idea what my lift was. I know its a 4" suspension lift because i phoned the previous owner and i measured. I have the original radius arms with the drop down bracket. Measure from the center of the bolt that goes to your frame and the center of the bolt that goes through your drop braket. Mines right on 4".
