higher psi, smaller tank?

The duty cycle on those oilless compressors is pretty short.

I just looked through my compressor manual and it didn't really say anything about a "duty cycle". It did recommend that the compressor be run at zero pressure for 15 minutes as a break in cycle. Other than that, nothing. I would be concerned about it keeping up with a large tank, but it could probably do ok with a slightly larger tank like a 20 gallon as long as you let it build to max pressure first. I could see it keeping up with a 20 when using tools like framing nailers or other relatively low volume tools. I don't think anyone should try to run high consumption tools like sanders simply because that is not what the compressor was designed for, but then again, I'm sure it's been done.

I'll let someone else experiment with this one.
