Cool Limited Slip/Posi front diff on a Bronco?

I just talked to a guy at the wreckers and he says that a limited slip front diff was never avalable in a 80-96 F150 or Bronco. I want to buy a used L/S carrier for my 83 Bronco's front Dana 44. Would the carrier from the rear of a Dana 44 Jeep, IH, or other truck work for me? I plan to use my stock 3.55 gears for now.

Thanks,
Clayton

If you go the route of a regular dana 44 carrier you'll need to place a spring in the slip yoke on the passanger side shaft to keep the shaft in the housing. A valve spring is rumored to work well. Be careful where you get your limited slip from, newer jeep or nissan dana 44's have different carriers than fords did

First, they were available, but they're VERY hard to find. For all intents and purposes, you can't get one.

There are better and cheaper ways to get a LS front end. Auburn, no-slip, etc. With the new stuff you get a warranty, with something out of a yard, chances are pretty good it's worn out.

Spend the money and do it right the first time. Most importantly, do it once.

$205 for a T-Lock, $385 for a Power-Loc (both new) at Here

Although I like the Aussie Locker for $229 Here better.

First of all they did put a LS in the front(Dana Trac Lock not Ford Traction Lock) because I ordered mine from the factory that way. Second, I believe the TTB diff is setup as a reverse rotation unit where the solid axle isn't(but don't quote me on that). Third, one of the units these other guys are recommending( that slips in an open diff) is the way to go unless you plan on some HD 4 wheeling. And fourth, the carriers are different from 3.73 down and 4.10 up with little interchangability. 4WheelParts has all this info in their catalog that you can order on line for free.
