looking to buy
i'm goen tomorrow to look at a 95 F150 4.9L. it has 100k miles on it. i was wondering if any of you bought a straight 6 with this many miles and how long they'll last. thanks.

As long as the truck has been taken care of 100,000 on a 300 shouldn't be anything to worry about. My brother has an 88 F-150 300 I-6, 4 speed 4x4 Beats the snot out of it and it's still running strong at 210,000 mi

I'm up to either 230,000 or 330,000. The guy i bought it from owned it from the start and knew the odometer was on it's third or fourth time around, but couldn't remember which. This is on the original motor and rear end, the tranny was replaced once about 5k before I bought the truck.

What rear gear ratio do you have? And what tranny do you have?
I only have 102K on my 94, but my dad's 84 racked up 250 before he sold it, and it was still runnin good too.
As far as mileage goes, I get around 14 in town and up to 20 on the freeway, but that's with 2.73 gears.

thats real good to hear. i'm gonna go sunday to check it out. i'll hopefully be making the switch from the 4 bangers forum to the inline six. the guy seemed pretty confident that the truck is in great shape. thanks for the input. -jesse
