Removing AOD tranny
I plan on removing the AOD tranny from my 86 Bronco (with 302) to get it rebuilt. I've never removed a tranny before, so I've been studying the Haynes Manual procedures on it and searching through these threads (lots of great info in here!).
Anyway, the Haynes Manual and a few posts on here say that in order to get to all the bolts on the torque converter, I need to rotate the engine by means of a socket on the crankshaft pulley. But the Haynes Manual cautions against turning the engine "backwards."
I don't know what is meant by turning it "backwards." I've checked the engine section in the Haynes Manual, but couldn't find anything on it. Does it mean that I have to rotate the crankshaft pulley a certain way, like clockwise or counter-clockwise? If so, which way should I rotate it, clockwise or counter-clockwise?
Thanks for any help, tips, info, advice and warnings.
