Dana 44 clips ???

I have a problem with replacing the ring and pinion in a 44. I see that there are C-clip holding the axles in but it also appears that you would be unable to remove the housing when the axles are in. So I guess my question is what is the proccess for removing the clips and housing???

I am also looking for a better schematic of a Dana 44 IFS. It's from a 93' F-150

ya gotta tke the hubs apart so you can push the axles in just like a rear diff once the hubs are removed.

??

Ya I know I have to remove the diff pin to push the axles in but unlike the rear the front does not have a coverplate that is removed to do this. The front Dana 44 IFS is pumkin style alxe and you cannot see the internals until the housing is removed. Ya know I have not started pulling this appart but I'm thinking becuase the axles are held in by the spindle there isn't any need for the c-clips. Maybe on the IFS there are no clips.

There is not a c-clip on the drivers side axle, but there is a c-clip in the passanger side axle. The passanger side axle shaft is a 2 piece, with 2 u-joints. You have to dissassemble the passanger shaft at the middle u-joint. Then just slide the drivers side shaft out, and then you can remove the housing and then remove the c-clip to remove the passanger side stub shaft.
