Headlight switch wiring help needed
Basically, if you have a
GM, you're in luck. If not you should trace the original wires from the switch to the component. Kinda hard to do since they told me to remove the original harness. So I hope with all the wisdom around here someone can identify the wires for me. Here is what the pigtail has in it...There are 3 side by side rows of wires with a total of eight openings. I am writing the locations as if I were on the floor looking up at the switch.
Listing from dash panel towards engine compartment, row closest to drivers side:
1) First hole is missing a connector so no wires to compare.
2) Second hole has two 18 gauge wires in the same connector and both are light green with a yellow stripe.
3) Third is one 18 gauge wire black with a blue stripe.
Middle row containing two connectors front to back:
1) First is a 16-18 gauge black with a yellow stripe
2) Second is a 14 gauge red with a yellow stripe, I think this one is the wire from the headlight dimmer switch????
Row closest to pass. side:
1) First is a 16 gauge wire, baby blue with a red stripe.
2) Second is a 14 gauge wire, solid brown, I think this is to the taillights?????
3) Third is a 12 gauge wire black with a red stripe, I am certain that this is the main power feed to the switch. The painless harness contains two power wires for the switch. It says to use both with a two prong switch. I am a little confused about this. Are there supposed to be two power wires to my switch?
Sorry so long and thanks in advance to everyone!
