braking problem

so heres the deal, the truck is a '67 F-100 with four wheel manual drum brakes. The problem is I have no brake pressure, I can pump the pedal about a dozen times and get pressure, but as soon as I let off the pedal the pressure is once again gone. I tried bleeding the brakes, but no air came out of the lines, only fluid. Is my master cylinder the problem? I didn't think so because I can get pressure when I pump the pedal. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I used to have a 70 F100 SWB with drums on all 4 wheels. I had a similar problem with the truck when I first got it. Turned out that I just needed to rebuild the wheel cylinders and I replaced the shoes and springs while I was at and rebuilt the master cylinder also. After bleeding, problem solved. Just saw your post or would have responded sooner.

Like rlh says, do it all.... wheel cylinders AND master cylinder. If you haven't blown the master by now with all the pumping and over pumping, you will soon. Don't scimp out on the brakes. With all these little light weight cars with 4 wheel disc brakes buzzing in and out and stoppping right in front of you, you'll need all the braking power you can get. And if you happen to run into one of them, keep a dust brush handy to clean off your bumper.!
