1999 F350 Powerstroke Turbo Questions

I am looking at buying a 1999 7.3 powerstroke turbo. Truck has 39K miles is a 1 ton extended cab dually and is in excellent shape. Dealer wants $24K. Are there any inherent problems with these trucks ? Thanks, Tom

At that mileage you should be good to go. If it has an automatic change the fluid and add an additional cooler. I love my 99.

4x4, This truck is really loaded. Power everything, I just don't want to be buying a money pit. I used to be a service writer at a Chevy dealer and I know how these things can be. I have always been a Chevy guy, but I have always heard very good things about the 7.3 turbo deisels as far as towing ability. It also has the really nice optional aluminum wheels, so I may be turning into a Ford guy. Thanks again, Tom

If I was going to pay a premium price for a 5 year old , low milage truck i would negotiate a 1 Year , Total Coverage warranty from the dealer, Personally. And, I would negotiate this warranty...after...I had reached an agreement on the Purchase price. The reason that he is asking that amount for a 5 year old truck is predicated upon the Extremely poor showing that the '03\04 , 6.0 diesels are having with their mechanical and electricial malfunctions. If, he believes it is worth a premium, then he should be willing to furnish a warranty to back up his asking price. Also, if , in fact , the trucks is as in good of shape as the Dealer states, then there Shouldn't be any Repairs for him or You to worry about . I wouldn't accept a warranty from one of those sellers of Extended Warranties AS they aren't worth the paper they're written on , good luck , s.kuteman
