I have a 93 F150 with a 5.0. Can I swap this engine for a 00 mustang engine 5.0 that is turbocharged. If so can I just bolt my upper and lower intakes to the newer engine? Will my trucks computer work with this engine?
Thanks Jeremy
Since no one has jumped in yet I will give you what I think.
If you have speed density system then I think you will have problems with your computer. I know ford stopped making the 5.0 motor and I for the life of me can not recall when that was but my guess is it was before 00.
If the motor is a 302 (5.0) then I would say get the wiring and computer from the car and then splice it into yours. It will be alot of work but then again I have never done it.
The mustang recieved the modular engine in 1996, none of which have been factory turbocharged. A 302W longblock from 1995 and previous years will swap out.
The guy that has the totalled mustang said he ordered it turbocharged from the factory. I have'nt seen it yet. I am going to go look at it some time this week. If I go with this engine can I just use my intakes and not change the computer. Thanks Jeremy
The only fox bodies to be turbo charged factory were 2.3 four cylinders in the late seventies thru the mid eighties. If your friend has a 2000 Mustang with a factory engine it is either a 3.8 V6, or 4.6 V8; 2V or 4V. None of which you can use your parts on.
I'm not sure about the engine interchangeability on what you are asking, but it may just be easier to order a super charger your your engine and go from there.
Granted it will be seem little more expensive but in the long run it isn't.
You have to add theexpense of that motor that probally isn't what you want, parts involved with doing the swap, & most importantly your time that is involved with the swap or labor charges.
