Ford 4 speed
I recently bought a 1960 3/4 ton 4x4. The question I have is it has a 3 speed and I want to put in a original 4 speed and 292. Was the original 4 speed built by warner (T98?) ? In looking for one what should I look for to identify an original one. Are there any ID numbers on the case? Could I use a 4 speed from a 2 wheel drive truck or is there a difference in length? If I find one is there a recommended rebuild kit? Appreciate your help.

1960 model is the Warner T-98A. External part # should be 4TDB. On the glove box door, it would be Trannsmission code: F. The 4x4 trannsmission seems to be the same as a 4x2(I'm not positive though). -4speed(

I'm pretty sure the tranny's are the same. The 2 wheel drive should have a plate on the side for bolting up the transfer case.
