86 ranger shut down

1986 ranger runs great while cold but sputters and dies when it reaches operating temperature. anyone have any ideas on this sympyom? thanks

Going to need a few more details. What engine do you have? Xmsn? etc. You should have the OBD I system. See if you can pull the codes. Should be able to get them with a voltmeter. Could be something simple like plugs, points, bad wires, bad sensors, air filter, vacuum leak, et.al. Try a good tuneup. If you are in cold weather, try some gas deicer. Keep us posted on your progress.

Try pulling the codes, see the tech info post for pulling the eec-iv codes.

I'd try advancing the timing if its a 2.9 they tend to like running about 10 to 17 degrees ahead
