460 roller block info

Did Ford ever produce a roller block version of the 460 for the truck? If so then what years? I am curious to know when the 460's were roller... thanks

I may get corrected here...but I don't believe the 460's ever came from the factory with a hydraulic roller cam. You can buy aftermarket cam/lifters to convert to roller but it's not cheap.

Never heard of one. Ford knew by the late '80s that that 460 production was destined to end and it wouldn't have made much sense to spend new engineering and production money on it.

I agree with both Deen and george, Ford didn't make them. Aftermarket kits are going to cost you roughly $1000 not including the machine work if any is needed. I saw the price of it when I was looking at my options and dropped it when I saw the price tag for just the cam and lifters, which can't be bought together as a kit.

Help me out here guys. I was under the impression that my 1995 F53 460 motorhome has a hydraulic roller cam in it.

Well for normal stock production trucks they didn't. The only real way to see if you have a roller cam is to pull of the intake and take a peek. Personally I wouldn't do it unless there is a really really good reason to besides curiousity.

LOL
Thanks for the reply airharley.
At least I know my F53 is not considered a "normal" Ford, even though Ford produced thousands of them each year for the motorhome industry.
