Fuel issues
Yesterday I had a new high pressure fuel pump installed because the old one was running very loud. The new one still ran loud, and I took the truck back in. Was told that if a small amount of Automatic Transmission Fluid was poured in the tank, it could possibly lubricate the high pressure pump and allow it to run quiet. There was a 1/2 a tank when 1 cup of transmission fluid was added. I've been driving the truck around town all afternoon and nothing changed with the pump noise. I bought a different brand pump and am going to have that installed this week. Now, the big thing; when I got the truck out on the highway, it bucked like a rabid bull. He cuts out at 2500 rpms and up. Never did this before. Is this caused by the transmission fluid passing through the system? Will there be harm done to the engine? I filled fuel and dropped in a bottle of injection cleaner this afternoon. I haven't driven it much, but it kept bucking on the way home. It feels like I'm pulling something. Any advice on this would be great.
I plan to take the truck out tomorrow and run the tank empty. Hopefully it'll get all that junk out of it. When I get the new pump installed I'll get a new fuel filter, too. Is running the tank empty a bad idea?

If the fuel pump replacement was the only thing that was done to your truck and it started bucking after the pump was replaced, look closely at the pump installation. A crimped fuel line or partially restricted fuel filter could cause fuel starvation and bucking.
