I was told to look under the radiator expansion tank at the electronics box that sits over the drivers side valve cover. Stand by the drivers side fender when you look. The electronics box is called the fuel injection control module.
it will have a sticker on the passenger side valve cover and a build date sticker on the drivers side valve cover upper right corner [hard to see use a flashlight]
Thanks, I found the sticker at the back end of the left rocker arn cover. There was a sqaure metallic box over the cover wth the sticker on it. I feel much better that the build date was June 22 2003. The trucks build date was June 2003, but this tells me little about the actual date off the assembly line. rimshoes
build date 01/03. 16,000 miles started out getting 18 mpg, but has steadily started decreasing around 4,000 miles and now getting 15.1mpg. I have not had it flashed yet. I do get very rough idle on warmup and fumes in the cab at red lights or parked ideling.

If you still have the window sticker the build date is the very last numbers printed on the sticker. mine is like this.
Newby here...
Bought my truck in late Aug. '03. Salesman assured me all 6.0 problems were resolved. Received 03E03 recall notice on 12-27-03.
I just checked my build date(s)
Truck is 06 04 03, 6.0 motor is 06 Jun 03 - How can the motor be after the vehicle?
After reading all the threads about flashes, injectors and what all, I dont know what to think...to flash or not to flash. Just turned over 3200, changed my own oil at 3159. Use motorcraft filter bought at ford because no one has them in stores yet and used Chevron Delo 400. I have been getting approx 17-19 mpg city/hiway combo and about 9 towing my '33 Holiday Rambler TT.
I have had no noticable problems what-so-ever. Truck has not shown any of the mulititude of problems exhibited in the many postings. But I guess my experience is just beginning?
Other Questions:
1) Why would rimshoes "feel much better that the build date was June 22 2003".
2) Anyone know when or where the motorcraft filters will be available? They're just the paper filters and noway should cost the $25 bucks paid at the dealer.
3) Any comments or reccomendations on motor oils?
psdwnabe, that makes sense. My sticker has a VIN date of 10/02/03 and the engine build date is 10/07/03. I don't know what the truck build date is, however.
What was the first engine build date for the '04 PSD 6.0?
