I saw a commercial regarding Jack Daniels Whiskey last night.
They told me that Jack Daniel is still produced in a town, Lynchburg, which has only one traffic sign?
I'm just curious whether is is true or not, anybody here from Lynchburg?
Yep there's really a Lynchburg and its about an hour from me (I'm in Chattanooga). You should swing by some time and check out the brewery tour, its quite a site to see since alot of the brewing process is still done the way they did it when they first started.
They have a distillery that makes the most popular sipping whiskey in the united states, but it's a dry county.
They claim they make it in the old fashioned way, it is a historical site that gives tours of the facilities. Harley clubs ride out there every so often for the tours.
My gut instinct tells me it's the most successful "STILL" in Tennessee history!!!
I'm a George Dickle man myself which is made in a little town near Lynchburg. The Town is in Normandy near Tullahoma. It was taken over by an English company though like many distilleries and wineries are these days and ruined.
Merle Haggard was the spokesman for them until it was taken over.
Lynchburg is a neat little town, and has a traffic light now. All the women love to shop around the square and Mrs Bobo's (sounds like bowbows) is a great place to eat. The barbecue (?) contest is something they have too, I think it's the national or world championship contest but not sure about that. I think they had 35 or 40 thousand people show up last year last year.
I work in Tullahoma about 15 minutes from Lynchburg but live about 30 minutes past that on the other side of the AF base near Monteagle.
I live about 20 minutes from Lynchburg and work at a rock quarry there from time to time. Lynchburg is a great little town and if you are in the area, I reccommend taking the tour of the distillary.
Built three barrel wharehouses for Jack about three years ago. That place reeks like sour mash. They had a great little all you can eat lunch buffet on the highway from tullahoma, felt like puking in the hot tn summer sun everyday after eating there.
Another funny fact. That county is a municipal. They did it so tullahoma couldn't eat up anymore of the land.
