Question No heat

Hello to all, I'm a total newbie here and I'm looking for a little help. I've got a 94 F350 7.3 with almost 200,000 miles on it. All of a sudden I am not getting any heat inside. I thought it might be the t-stat so I changed it and that didn't help. I guess the core could be clogged but I wouldn't think that would have happened over night. The temp gauge is fine, there is plenty of fluid, the water pump is not leaking or making any noise. The heater hoses are both warm....maybe not exactly the same temp, but pretty close. Prior to this problem occuring I had not done any work to the system that may have caused an air pocket.
Any suggestions? What is the easiest way to check the core?
Someone suggested checking the temp controler inside the truck although it seems to be working. If you go from the full heat position towards cool, the temp does get cooler.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill.

Take the heater hoses off an flush out the core. it might leak afterwards, so be prepared

Hi Bill,

years ago I had the same problem...it seems to be the same.
Maybe you have an air bubble in your cooling system, if so you have to drain the air.

it's just an idea.....

I just flushed the core with no change. The heater hoses are open as well. If there is air in the system, how do you go about getting it out?
I'm going to look at the heater control as soon as I can escape from work. Thanks for the input. Bill

If flushing didn't help, then it's prolly the control valve. Have someone turn the control, while you watch for operatin.
Another problem with these trucks is, the heater core is exposed to a lot of debris. Sometimes the core can become clogged with dirt, leaves, needles ect.

Do the 94's have a control valve? My 87 just uses a door to open and close the air coming from the core. Water flows through the core all the time.

I am some what embarrassed to let you know that I solved the heat problem in my truck. It turns out the culprit is my 5 year old niece.....or more precisly her barrettte that she made "disappear" down the defroster outlet. Yep, some big mechanical mistery alright. I took apart the glovebox and the cover over the coil. When I reached in there I immediately felt something loose and I knew that I found the problem. Some how the barrette was lodged in there and restricting the air from blowing across the coil I guess. I feel kind of silly but at least I have heat. Thanks for everyones help, Bill.
