Underpowerd 350 Chevy

Im a Hardcore Ford Fan my self but my grand pa bought a 1987 chevy blazer as a hunting truck took it for a drive the other day and it had seirous power issues it did not have near as much power as a Bronco with a 351 it had to drop down a gear to hold 30mph up hill not a very steep hill eithrer it was on high rpms and my foot was to the floor is it just becus chevys have high rpm power as appoesd to fords low rpm power.

If I had to guess you probably have a worn engine or tranny. Somethings not right. As much as I like ford, the chevy 350 is comparable. Should you wanna modify that truck. Ditch the tbi and Check ebay, you will realize in no time flat that finding parts to add torque and/or hp to that 350 is very "cost effective". Vortec heads and a cam will literally get you 400 hp with 9.5:1 +/- compression. Thats not what you necesarrily want in an offroad vehicle but, you can get stroker kits for 3-400 dollars darn near complete, as opposed to 300 for the ford crank alone. Oh well, good luck and hope you find out what the problem is, later

I know your post was with good intent but we have to keep the questions in this section ford related. I would try chevytalk or something.
