MAP/BAP sensor question

I tested my MAP sensor and got 2.5 volts out of sensor wire, a good 5 volts from the signal wire as well. Haynes says that with no vacuum, it should have 5 volts on the sensor wire. I replaced it thinking it was bad, and yet the new one also had 2.5 volts. I don't know how familiar anyone is with the mustang computer, but I was thinking maybe it needed a frequency varying map sensor instead of a voltage type. It's an A9L mass air computer from a 1990 mustang. I have no vacuum running to the sensor, and only get 2.5 volts, which I'm thinking is telling the computer that the truck is running in a vacuum, and so it's running lean and advancing the timing too much as well. I get heavy spark knock between idle and 2000 rpms with slight throttle. The maf is clean, the tps is set, egr is not plugged, air temp sensor is new, water temp sensor works, canister purge works, injector order is right, yet it still pings. The timing is retarded to about 7 or 8 degrees with the spout disconnected and yet it still pings. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
