How to take a 'Cold' shower....
Saturday, I got up from the PC (actually DRAGGED myself away from it is more like) and went off to get a shower, it being 4:30 in the AM.
To my suprise, I had no need to adjust the water temperature - [font color=blue]because there WASN'T any!
I thought it was bone marrow freezing, and it didn't change no matter how long I ran the water...
(Since I rent, there will be a telephone call once the weekend is finally over)
I suppose most of my shock was due to hangovers and cold showers being equal opposites...
In the end, far from being muzzily sleepy I was wide awake and didn't turn in until close to noon.
But after trying many things (tracing the pipes, recycling the breakers, checking the fuel oil tank (half full) and checking with the upstairs apartment renter (she had hot water) and looking for another water heater) I came to the conclusion that I was stuck with it for at least a while.
It occurred to me that swimming pools are like that - we hate that first step but we soon become adjusted. But why is a shower so different?
I finally arrived at a way to actually enjoy it (since I had no #%$#%$$#$*&# choice) and it works like this:

And THIS works pretty well -
First realise that it's JULY. It BE hot outside. So I went out and did yard work, hoping it would make a cold shower seem a "good thing".
I also tried to remember all of the cold showers I had to take aboard ship and at class 'A' school, because that was just the way it was... (which didn't help much...)
But anyway -
Soap up first, remembering that your back objects the most, so do it last.
Second to last, rinse your hair. This makes water run down your back...
By the time you get to running water all over yourself, it feels just like a swimming pool - and frankly I appreciated it hugely!
- It was tepid water anyway, my imagination had made it seem twice as cold....
