How does an EGR really work???
I already know that the EGR does nothing at idle, but once your foot touches the throttle pedal, and the valve starts opening and sending exhaust gas into the bottom of the carb, what exactly is going on?
Can the EGR be connected directly to the timed port of the carb, or does it require a relief valve to loose built up pressure during idle so the valve can close?
Does the EGR have any effects on the temperature inside the combustion chamber?
Does the EGR have any effect on pinging or detonation?
The stock intake manifold had electrical wiring going to some kind of system before the EGR, but now I have an aluminum performance intake manifold that was not setup for that system. Since I threw away the old/stock intake, should I buy whatever it was that was hooked up on the stock intake and how do I hook it up and where do I run the vacuum lines?
I have the new plate, valve but it's not hooked up because it stayed on all the time and caused engine to overheat. I appreciate any info that you guys can supply. Thanx
