84 B-ii

Recently acquired my fathers 84 B-II 4x4, 5-spd man. for free. It is bone stock and he was orig owner. Three friends and I plan to make it a off road vehicle only and trailer it when completed. We want to change motor, trans etc. We plan to start w/ motor. Just wondering what type of motor is least diff. to swap into it. 302, 289 or 4.0? Which do you recommed before we start

I'm sure you'll get some good answers but a 4.0 swap should be the easiest, the 302/5.0 isn't bad either and you'll get more power.

A carbed v8 is easier to swap in unless you get a whole 4.0 parts truck to take parts off of, since you will have to conver your 84 to a fuel injected fuel system to put a 4.0 in.
