Work Politics

Anybody else hate this crap. Business is pretty slow right now, so a lot of time is spent standing around bull @#$%ing. Also, with business being the way it is, it's pretty competitive amongst the techs for work, and everyone is kinda short-tempered. I DO NOT want to get into this garbage, as I've seen it's effects before, I don't want to go there. I'm trying to run around the shop with my ears shut, and not even listen to it, but it's hard. One guy starts in about how one guy never cleans up (he doesn't) then another talks about how the first is really finicky about keeping everything neat and clean (he is) and a third goes on and on about how slow someone is (they are.) I'm the dead weight there. I'm new, I'm the trainee, I'm the first to go if they can find a good reason. I've gotta watch my butt, can't find a reason for them to take a dislike to me. Just needed to vent, Gracias for listening.

Excellent Venting !

*Don't stop until your head is clear*

IMO, This goes deeper than what appears on the surface.
ie:
Winter blahs, Money leaving the bank account, Credit Card debt going up, Family get togethers..... Christmas can be VERY TRYING for a LOT of people.

I would suggest more communication between each other if that is possible.

Some people can spot this while others can't.

Tell me about it.

Right now my company will be reorganizing the job functions and it is ugly as heck- turning a bit into me against the boss.

Better wish him good luck- he's gonna need it.

Be careful jeffthompson-you are new-you are the trainee-he is the boss. Unless he is an absolute loser, and the owner or manager knows this, you are probably in a less desireable position. Keep your head down, unless you have another option. I am wondering why you consider yourself as "dead weight"? Are you, or is that what you think? If you are a producer, you should have no problems. If you are dead weight, guess who goes first? Hope it works out for you.

My apologies-sandrat, the above statement was for you. jeffthompson, I misread who posted the original, but actually a lot of the same info could apply.

All that stuff is pretty annoying and you'll find it wherever you work. Where I am I hear all kinds of stuff, mostly gossip, about people I don't even know. I try to base my oppinion of those people on how I see them behave, and I try to ignore the rest. It's tough!
