I am having a problem with both front seats. Both lumbars deflate right away when pumped up. Anyone have the seats apart? Replace bags? Thanks ( 97 Mounty )
Sorry - no advice but could you let me know if you find anything out? The third day I drove my "new to me" 97 Explorer home from work, a series of dips in the road caused me to fall back into the seat back and pop the lumbar support on the left side of the seat. I don't know if I popped the bag or broke a mounting bracket, but I would like to try and fix it.
I had the same problem on my 97 EB - driver's side only. It turned out to be the inflate/deflate switch.
I noticed that the passenger side switch felt different - the driver's side switch felt 'loose' on the deflate position while the passenger one had a definite position for deflation. I had a buddy make the swap and it's been fine ever since.
Check the switch - when you touch it, it shouldn't move at all. If it feels loose at all, then that's your problem.
I did check the switch. It was loose. I got a new one from ford. Changed it and it works fine. I thought I was going to have to buy a used seat but thanks to the tip here I won't have to. THANKS!!!!
