Is the crane 343941 too big to use with stock rockers? Im looking at the 941 and the Lunati cam.

941: 2,000-5,000 rpm 216/228 .533"/.563"
053: 1,500-5,000 rpm 223/223 .514"/.514"

I found that the comp 270-H has a more lopey idle and is more of a performance cam then the 901 or 941

Pat,
I have used Crane's 941 cam with both non- and adjustable rockers, no problem on either. I did use their high-intensity lifters with the non-adjustables because of fairly low compression, but don't see how that would make any difference.

Thanks for the reply. Does the 941 have a noticeable lope at idle?

You can definitely tell that it's not a completely stock, smooth idle, but actually not too bad unless you REALLY slow it down. My 390 with high-intensity lifters had a little lump to it, but my 410 with higher CR and regular lifters seems even smoother at about 700 rpms. I think Crane says the 941 has a "good" idle, and I would agree. You won't tip your hand too much with it if you're going for stealth. Steve

Sweet. Thanks. Is there any retainer to valve guide clearance problems on stock heads with the .563 exhaust lift?

Just throwing an idea in, like was mentioned about single pattern camshafts, the Comp 270 H isn't the best camshaft to compare the 901 to, as it has the longer duration exhaust. If you were to get an apple to apple comparison, the Dual Energy Hydraulic line of cams from Comp(part numbers 255DEH, 265DEH, and 275DEH) would be the same style, with 10 more degrees duration on the exhaust than the intake. I'm running the 255DEH, and according to the specs put into Desktop Dyno, I'm making almost identical numbers to the higher lift Crane 901. This could be partly because my setup was built around the Comp 255DEH, though and not a cam of more than .500 in lift.
The Comp 255DEH has .469 in lift on the intake, and .495 in lift on the exhaust.
I realize that Crane has a larger following in here, and may be better, but it was also more expensive than the Comp I got through a friend at my local parts store.

Nope but you should replace the springs with the recommended springs from your cam manufactuer. You definitely want a dual pattern with a stock headed FE.

Thanks Ratsmoker. I had intended on replacing them. The stock springs are getting a little worn with 2 years of trips up to 5k.
