1964 F100!!!
I was wondering if anyone knows of any sites and/or mags (besides MAC'S) that has cheap parts listed for a 64 f100.
Everything on my truck is in the process of a cheap rebuild, (i.e. enough to get it running for a few months) and then Im going to restore it. I have the truck running now, I now need to find a radiator for it(mine leaks) and a few other goodies! I would also like to know where I can find a cheap owners manual sans motorhaven.com.
I received this truck from my grandmother. Grandad bought it new and ever since he died, its been sitting in their shed for about 10 years now. The only thing I had to do to get it to run was clean the gas tank, install a battery, files the points, and pull the choke.....and BOOM! Once it picked up the gas, it ran....even idled...well with the choke pulled out a bit!!! Pretty cool huh??!!
I read this site alot, but rarely post, and I just wanna say that the enthusiasm you guys show, has really given me motivation to restore this family truck of mine....
Have a good night

Most any radiator shop should be able to find you a radiator, although a new one will likely set you back about 300 bucks.
They must have made good radiators back then as my 64 still has the original.
I found a lot of parts for mine at WWW.BWautoparts.com, was a good source for window anti rattlers, and interior parts etc, also just do a search for old ford truck parts will find a lot of results.
I have alot of original parts on my '64 and although Im sure Ford made great parts back then, I also know my grandad babied that truck of mine!
I can find all sorts of radiators for my f100, I was just wondering if you thought there would be a cheaper route than those 300 dollar options??? Its past patching up, yet it doesnt just leak out all its fluid in a day either.
BTW, I have scoured many websites on literature and I have found that there are a ton out there. Which sites do you guys trust and have had success with???

Not that there aren't lots of guys on this site that wouldn't like to sell you a good used radiator... (like me) but where is your radiator leaking? Are you sure it is the radiator? In my own experience they are more likely to get clogged up than to develop a leak. Water pumps leak. Radiator Hoses Leak. If you are just starting out, read a lot, study a lot, learn as much as possible, buy a service manual, ask questions, and get that old truck on the road! Ask questions and somebody will be glad to help. Good luck and welcome to the Wide World of 1964 Owners!
The whole thing pretty much leaks. Doesnt leak anywhere around the hoses, fittings, etc. It just plain likes to leak eveyrwhere. It is good for a 5 mile short trip or so, but thats about it!
The funny thing is, that the radiator is the only glaring problem under the hood. Everything works great.
I am proud of this old '64 slick. I know its not a unibody or a twin I-beam, but im still proud of it. The more I work on it, the better I feel about restoring it! Right now, im just going to get it in an almost "daily" driver state. After a few months of poking and prodding, and documenting, I am going to tear it down.
I appreciate all your help everyone.....looks like I might do the ole boneyard for a few parts to get it going a little smoother.
I've taken to buying new radiators whenever replacement is necessary. Last few salvage yard trys wound up needing major work.
I just put Aluminum, X-Flow, Radiator, Equivalent to 4 row Core, w/ A/T Cooler etcl, Sold as a "Super Cooling H.D." Replacement Radiator" by Modine, for under $150, in my 88 Shop truck. My 88 plastic tanks and outlets rotted & crumbled!
Now Granted, this is a "newer" truck, different style [cross flow] radiator & has plastic tanks. BUT. . . it also has slightly more than additional gallon coolant capacity, and is aluminum too. I could've bought used 2 row (like OEM) copper for $75 @ salvage yard. I'd have to had it cleaned/ boiled & checked, maybe rodded out, and could have easily put over $100 into that, or spent +$50 & done what I did.... pretty easy decision for me!
I also had a 2 row go bad in my T-Bird "Street Car" a while back & replaced it with a new Modine Upgrade for under $125 ( no it was not aluminum it was copper w/ brass tanks like '85 OEMs were).
Most likely copper in your core is "porous" from sitting. This is a common problem and a natural phenomenon if H2O or Coolant/ H20 mix sits in a radiator for years on end. You may be able to have it re-cored very reasonably, depending on a few variables. If you have a Modine or Lakewood Radiator Supply Distribuitor in your locale, Start there & check them out 1st. The one here has a shop in one end of their building & do work right there.

Appreciate the help FBP. I will probably have the radiator re-cored...for now...once I get everything set up, I may go with a brand new one from a shop like the one you mentioned abouve....esp if I can find one in that price range!
