last year when I had my E4OD rebuilt the tranny guy told me I should get a New computer because it would control the tranny a better then the one i have. I also remmeber reading somewhere that new computers have updates on them that will also run the engine a little better. A new ECM is 200$ I don't mind spending the money espcially if it will help the tranny live longer. But I want to be sure I get a computer with the Updates. The local ford parts counter said he didn't know for sure if the one he had listed was one with updates. He did say it was a updated part number. I was told they needed my vin number to look up the computer and he said he didn't. This is the part number F2T2-12A650-CC. Would that be the right one? Is it worth it for me to switch them? thanks in advance for any help
I don't know what the code is, I can check if its not a lot of trouble. this was a while ago, but What I believe he told me was that it ran more line pressure, and that would be beter for the tranny, and i think he said something about it shifting differently. thanks
I can try to get that kick panel off and take a look tomorrow. Is their any truth to an updated PCM? I'm pretty sure mine is an the orginal computer. I dont' know if they had different PCMs for different broncos. Oh the tranny is an E4OD.
You don't need a new computer, you need a Diablo chip. I've got one and it work's good. A new computer box will not help because they are year and engine/trans combo specific. The chip will "update" the computer and it will run alot better.
Yes, different ECMs do program the tranny differently, though the difference is usually not as dramatic as some might tell you (Ford programmed these things with common goals in mind).
Yeah, maybe then I will go with some sort of chip then. I looked at the kick panel and I didn't quite see how to get it off. I didn't see and screws and i didn't want to just pull on it.
