I know oil will seep from the pan on vehicals.. but comin from a dirtbike background, and no oil ever leaks.. it kinda scares me. I have all this oil and build up under pan and all behind it.
Is it normal..I keep checkin my oil. its seems ok.. but dang.. kinda wierd.
If I had the time and the money. I would love to take motor out and replace all the gaskets and seals in it and clean it up good and do away with all that anit polution stuff. I Love the look of a drag car that just has the motor in there. none of that other stuff..nice clean look.
You can change the oilpan gasket with the motor in the truck, you just have to unbolt the motor mounts and lift the motor a little. Take the EGR valve off if you have EFI to clear the firewall. There's just enough space.
Don't worry if it's not making a difference on your dipstick.
The oil pan gasket get pulled out of the bolt holes and leaks. Mine leaked onto the starter, eventually causing it to fail. My local mechanic did the job for $100. I bought the Fel-pro gasket from Autozone. He said he didn't have to lift the engine to do the job.
