stock exhaust/headers

stock exhaust/headers
Thought i would check and see if any of you guys could help with exhaust question.
Putting 65 f100 with 302ci (1970) back together and have come to the exhaust system. Looked at headers, but found only 1, perhaps 2 to choose from and not sure of quality.
Now thinking of keeping the stock system. Wonder if the performance of the stock exhaust varies according to vehicle type. For example, performance of set of Bronco exhaust better than Torino; or can anything be done to improve the stock manifold performance. Also, will using adapter and going to larger exhaust pipe help?
Any input, or suggestions would be appreciated.
