Hi Guys ! I have a 99 350 V10. When I change my oil and filter the dip stick always reads a half qt low. I was told not to worrey just to use 6 qts of mobil one. Is it true that some dip sticks are wrong?:+
I just read that post, explaining the screw up but I can't seem to find it.
Maybe Monsta will be along soon, he has a thing for dipsticks, just ask Forty!!
Even on my 99 F250 V-8, six quarts gets only 2/3 the way up the dipstick hatch marks. I figure that's good enough, not unless you just want it all the way to the top of the hatch mark which will need another 1/2 quart.

I almost forgot about the case of the 'Caped Dip Stick Fondler'!:-) MONSTA, Didn't you used to be the moderator of the 'Oil and Lubrication Forum'?
Ford says as long as the oil is anywhere in the cross hatch area. On my 2000 F350 V10 six quarts puts the mark about a third of the way in the cross hatch area. I go with 6 1/2 quarts.
When I took her back to FORD for the first oil change the young man said any time he changes oil on a V10 he automatically puts in 7 quarts.
He showed me the dipstick after the oil change and it was right at the top of the hash mark. Worked for me.

MR Hooterdog !
Don't get me in trouble! with da man! monsta!
Remember, when changing oil you are putting in cold oil. Where is the oil on the dipstick after running the engine up to operating temperature and then letting the oil drain back down to the pan? (which is the owners manual instructions for checking oil - at least on my F350)
