They are pretty common in commercial application. I was a member of a 4X4 club when I lived in TX and several members used them to balance the bigger tires. Everyone that had them liked them. I am not sure of the brand, but the company that most of the guys used quit making the balancers for the normal daily driver sized rims.

Centramatics are more for larger trucks like F-350s and larger with dual wheels that you really can't balance as a set so the ring gets bolted bettween the dual wheels and it cancels out some of the tire vibes. I can't see any point using them on SRW trucks when a good tire balancing machine can get the tires pretty close where you feel no vibe at all but with duallys you are really supposed to balance both tires as a set but no tire machine can do this. You can balance one tire at a time but thats not that good, personally I never had rear tires balanced on my dually trucks.
