Now that I have my tranny out of my 88 F250 302 5 speed due to clucth replacement, I noticed that I have a better view at the knock sensor. This sensor is way behind the engine block.. Need to rplace because the top is broken off.
Does anyone have experience getting this out and how is it done.
I have not done Knock Sensor before but I've done CPS. Anyway the book states to just unscrew the Knock Sensor. You might need some wrench to take off or tighten it.
It just unscrews. I just replaced my engine, swaped to a Mustang shortblock and mass air conversion. The new block didn't have the hole for the knock sensor so I called FMS to inquire about what I should do. I removed it to check it out. It will be easy to install a new one in your block.
Don't know how to test one. There a line that goes to mine and it's broke off. On my F250 302 you can see it behind the back of the engine block and could get access to it. I could see it alot better with the Tranny out and have better access. Don't think you have to have it out to do this.
