well, i just got these 1985 Frod F-150, inline 6, 4 spd, 4" lift and 35" tires.
My porblem is with the transfer case. It leaks a bit and the former owner tried to cover the thing in silicon. I have begun to take it out but after i drained the fluids, out came some small pieces of metal.
i have also been told that it is a very complex t-case but i have no idea what kind it is. If anybody can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

one last thing, how hard would it be to put a straight front axle under this thing, i have no idea what size and the gears are in it.
Thanks again

it has a Borg-Warner style case, with a chain driven setup, not the toughest thing ford has ever produced. I would open it up, see what condition it is in, and maybe get a master rebuild kit for it, or maybe you want to go to the junkyard and find a good one, and just put a new pump, and bearings and seals in it. Another option, if you are a serious off-raoder, is to get a atlas 2 transfer case, or a NP 205. NP 205's are indestructible, they are gear to gear, and usually all they need is a seal and bearing set.
