trannsmission

tranny doesnt want to shift into drive without some extra throttle sometimes changed fluid and filter 1988 302 autother is no vacume line to tranny so i suspect that little switch on tranny? any way to tell some time when i put in reverse large voltage loss in dash meter any heklp for the ole girl appreciated steve

well, what tranny do you have? I am going to assume it is a AODE, because i think that is the only electronic tranny in ford trucks that year, don't quote me though. Could be a CPS sensor. That is up on the throttlebody, it tells the tranny how much lead your foot has in it. Might be a short in the selonoids in the tranny, but could be a shorting out reverse lights too. I would try to pull the codes off of it and see if they say anything. Is your alternator good, only reason i ask is the large voltage loss. Try putting it up on jackstands, put it in reverse, and give it some gas, see if the volts come back up. Could be an alternator on its way out, and a combination of CPS sensors, or tranny selonoid.
